Project Overview:
Working underground is difficult enough, without the added challenge of poor lighting conditions. So, when a local platinum mine approached us to design a custom solution for their substations, we stepped up to the challenge!
The Problem:
The operating voltage underground is 110Volt, but because of the nature of the work they do, voltage fluctuations are a daily challenge. Generally, the required lux level for a substation is 100 lux, vertical on the panels. Of course, the biggest challenge was that there are not many luminaires on the market that can operate in these tough conditions.
The Solution:
But as a leader in lighting design, our inside knowledge gave us the upper hand! Our experts knew that BEKA SCHREDER offers the LEDNOVA MIDI 70Watt luminaire with a universal driver that can handle 90-265V AC – the perfect solution for this situation.
During our post-installation inspection, it was clear that these fittings more than meet the required lux levels – not just on the panels but also on the floor. We’re talking uniform lighting that is unaffected by fluctuations!
