Project Overview:
We always take our service excellence to new heights… literally! When a local platinum mine in the North-West region needed a solution to light up their headgear from high up, we said “no problem!”
The Problem:
The project required us to illuminate headgear at a height of 67m. Needless to say, this comes with a number of challenges, accessibility being only one of them.
Previously, the client had 2 000-Watt high pressure sodium light fittings installed, which are not only high in energy consumption, but also require a lot of maintenance in terms of changing lamps and ballasts.
What’s more, whenever the power goes off, the fitting must cool down before it can restrike, which therefore leaves the area in complete darkness – a hazard in more ways than one.
The Solution:
Our objective was simple: To achieve a certain level of lux on the ground. According to our technical lighting design, the LEDFlood Maxi 265Watt Optic 5355 (Narrow Beam) would be the ideal solution for achieving the appropriate lux level.
As a further solution to the problem, these luminaires require low maintenance and are incredibly energy-efficient – the perfect allrounder!
