PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Area lighting is a headache for many of our clients… until they meet us for the first time! In this scenario, a local platinum mine needed our help to optimise their area lighting.
THE PROBLEM:
The mine had two existing masts for area lighting, with luminaires mounted on the headgear to also light up the stairway. But unfortunately, this installation of 400Watt High Pressure Sodium Floodlights simply wasn’t cutting it. What’s more, spare parts for these old luminaires were hard to come by and the masts weren’t exactly easily accessible for regular maintenance. Needless to say, due to lack of maintenance, a large number of the luminaires weren’t working which further added to the lighting crisis.
THE SOLUTION:
Impossible challenge? Not for Team Mabone. Our first recommendation was to switch out the old HID fittings for the BEKA LEDFlood Maxi 265Watt Optic 5068. Once the installation was done, we conducted a detailed lighting survey to ensure hat the new lighting setup is compliant with mining, health and safety regulations. The end result? An energy-saving solution that provides optimal lighting and is easy to maintain in the long term.
