Project Overview:
A key area where lighting is of the essence is walkways into and out of the mine. Employees must feel safe when walking from the parking or drop-off zone to the workplace. This specific mining client called us in to help illuminate an existing walkway and create a safe space for their staff.
The Problem:
The existing wooden poles next to the walkway weren’t your typical pole as they weren’t tall enough to be used as a streetlight or post top. After assessing the requirements, we did a lighting design to ensure that the mine will comply with Mine Health and Safety Regulations.
The Solution:
Our lighting design gave sufficient insight, and we determined that the Beka OPTIWAY 13Watt Optic 1300 would be proven to be the best solution. This luminaire is a very versatile product as it can be used in 110Volt underground application as well as on surface in 220Volt due to its large voltage range. To ensure that the light would be cast on the walkway where it is needed, the lights were installed horizontally on each pole.
