A local mine approached us to assist with upgrading their workshop lighting. The requirement was clear: achieve a uniform level of illumination that could withstand the demanding conditions of a busy mining environment.
THE PROBLEM:
Traditional overhead luminaires, suspended from the roof, created significant challenges. The presence of a moving crane resulted in obstructive shadows, reducing visibility and compromising both safety and efficiency within the workshop.
THE SOLUTION:
We conducted a detailed lighting design and recommended the installation of BEKA Schréder LEDNova Midi 40 LEDs, 70 Watt, Optic 5304W. Instead of a conventional overhead setup, the luminaires were mounted on the side pillars of the workshop, carefully raked at a 20° angle. This innovative approach:
