Project Overview:
We recently completed another successful high mast project at a local chrome plant in the North-West region to improve their area lighting.
The Problem:
The client has a large materials handling area. According to Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations 85 of 1993, the lux levels for this specific area must be 50 lux. Due to the area being large and dusty, the existing luminaires did not comply with these regulations – plus, maintenance proved a constant challenge.
The Solution:
Mabone did a full assessment of the area and then created a lighting design. With the results we got from the lighting design, we suggested that the client replace the older technology 1000Watt Metal Halide luminaires with six Beka OMNIBlast 2-E Maxi 910Watt Optic 5188 Stirrup Mount version fitting.
This fitting consists of two tiers, each raked at a specific degree to optimise the directional beams created by the optics for maximum light distribution where required. Over and above compliance with the required lux levels, we improved the working environment for the operators working in that area.
