PROJECT OVERVIEW:
When a platinum mine in the North West region resumed operations, it quickly became clear that the existing lighting setup wasn’t going to cut it. They needed a modern, energy-efficient upgrade and that’s where Mabone LED Consultants came in. The timing was perfect to move away from outdated compact fluorescent lighting and transition to advanced LED technology.
THE PROBLEM:
The goal of the project was to light up the surrounding area and to reduce overall glare. However, it was also important to promote dark skies and minimize light pollution, which was something we needed to educate the client on.
THE SOLUTION:
After a detailed site assessment, we chose the Beka QVAL 36W Bulkhead Optic 4410, a lighting solution engineered to deliver exactly what the environment called for: effective illumination without spillover. And the results speak for themselves. Drone footage captured by a DJI Mavic confirms it’s clean, focused lighting where it’s needed, and a surrounding area that stays dark and undisturbed.
